Queso was originally living with a client of mine in a tank with angel fish. One day, Queso did what turtles do, and ate all the fish. This greatly upset his owner. She asked if I would take him as I am a seasoned aquatic turtle owner. I named him Queso and the rest is history.

Casper has been with us since 2022. He was scheduled to be euthanized when a client of mine stepped fostered him. His original owner had passed and a family member inherited responsibility over him. He has a long list of health issues and is elderly. He is old, grumpy, and only wants to sleep - and that's ok!

On the first day of the New Jersey snowstorm January 2021, one little white kitten and one little orange kitten scratched on the restaurant door of the Black Forest Inn looking to be warm. My husband, who is a chef there, immediately tried to bring them in. He only successfully was able to get the orange kitty who he later named Percival. I hope the white kitten was able to find shelter that day.

Felix was a boarding client that was never picked up in 2019. Felix has beautiful green eyes and is incredibly affectionate. He will follow you around and come when called. He is patient and a true gentleman! He favorite thing is the female human.

Blizzard was adopted from a family who unfortunately fell on hard times and could longer take care of him. Blizzard is a sensitive soul with a few trust issues. He is incredibly handsome and introverted. His favorite place is sitting on the couch watching TV with me. He has pretty severe separation anxiety that we are currently working on. He love to take naps with the cats, he is even good with chickens! He loves female dogs but doesn't do well with puppies or male dogs.

Shiva was given to me a gift, purchased at 8 weeks old. As the elder of the pack she has whipped the other pups into shape! She spoke only when necessary and has proven all the negative Husky stereotypes dead wrong. Her favorite things included her floppy squirrel toy, surveying the property and sitting on the antique furniture even though she knew she was not supposed to. She was beautiful. She was smart. She will always be Shiva. ​Shiva passed away on her bed in the living room on March 8 2025. We sat with her as she took her last breath.

Writing this brings tears to my eyes. Max's passing has left a permanent hole in my heart. Max was only suppose to be with me for 3 weeks as a boarding client. 3 weeks turned into almost 6 years. His previous owner, a year after abandoning him, asked me to drive him to Florida and give him back. I declined. Max was untrained, morbidly obese and aggressive towards anyone who came near me. I resolved those issues. He is perfect. He will always be the Prince of the house. I love you Max. Forever. Max passed away on September 15 2024 on his bed in his sleep. We camped out on the floor and slept with him one last time.​
